Meet Amruta Panth Pandya
Amruta, born and raised in America, has always felt a deep connection to Indian culture, but struggled to balance her heritage with American pop culture. Her passion for movement led her to train in Bharatanatyam and other dance forms during high school and college, and after a transformative trip to India, she embraced her roots fully. Despite pausing Bharatanatyam in college due to concerns about its relevance, exposure to Western dance and marketing courses reignited her passion for Indian classical dance, leading her to return to performing, teaching, and exploring movement therapy.
After working as a Management Analyst post-college, Amruta realized her true calling lay elsewhere. In 2018, she launched Meri Sanskriti, initially a blog focused on balancing Indian heritage with Western influences, which later evolved into an online academy offering cultural education. By 2022, her offerings expanded into broader initiatives aimed at fostering cultural connections.
Amruta was introduced to the world of dance at the age of 3, watching her mother, Smt. Hira Panth, perform and direct plays, where she also began learning the basics of Bharatanatyam. At 11, Amruta enrolled in Srishti School of Dance under the guidance of Smt. Vani Ramesh. Over the years, she performed in numerous recitals and attended workshops led by Dr. Vasundhara Doraiswamy and Sri N. Srikant.
After taking a break from classical dance during her college years, Amruta resumed training in 2018. During her college years, she explored other dance styles, which rekindled her passion for dance and inspired her to return to classical training. In 2021, Amruta traveled to India and began studying under Sri N. Srikanth, learning Bharatha Nrithyam in addition to Bharatanatyam.
